&uot;Well, that’s just the way things happen sometimes. The guys played their hearts out, and we’re really, really proud of them. It just wasn’t meant to be. I hate it for all the seniors, but they had a great year and gave their all. As for the rest of us, we’ll enjoy winter and start over in the spring.&uot;

These were the words of CCA Head Coach Roland Jones following a season-ending 49-31 loss to South Choctaw Academy.

The Cougars jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter before falling behind for good in the second.

Senior Bryan Brasington, in his role as field general, played his hardest, as did the entire team, completing 11 of 22 passes for 158 yards and 2 TD’s, while Jake Page also completed 1 of 1 for 37 yards and a score.

Allen Sasser once again headed the receiving corps, snagging 6 for 114 yards and 2 TD’s, while Chafin Johnson added 4 catches for 59 yards and a TD. Page and Jared Hughes added 1 catch apiece.

Page also led the rushing attack with 98 yards on 15 carries for 1 TD, while Derek Manning added 35 yards on 10 carries.

Defensively, Page had a banner night, leading the team with 18 stops while Matthew Walden had 10 of his own. Manning followed with 8 tackles, while Jason Tutchtone and Johnson added 7, Hughes 6 and Paul McIlwain 5.

Following are the senior Cougars: Chafin Johnson, Allen Sasser, Joseph Ring, Bryan Brasington, Derek Manning, Jared Hughes, Matthew Walden, Tad Long, Cody Strops and Jarrod Pettie.
