Close games mark FDA Pee wee basketball

The Fort Dale Pee wee basketball leagues continued play over the weekend and all four boy's and girl's games were decided by a total of 22 points.

Here are the results:

Boys

White 22, Red 21

Down 20-12 at the end of the third period, the Fort Dale Pee wee white team came back and outscored the red team 10-1 in the final period Saturday morning to take the victory, 22-21.

Chip Taylor and James Burkett led the white team with seven points apiece. All 14 of Burkett's and Taylor's points came in the second half.

Hudson Branum also had five points for the white team while Fuller Myrick finished with two and Kris Wilson had one.

Ryan Taylor also had seven points to lead the red team offensively while Wesley Scott was the next leading scorer with four points.

Cole Davis Had three points, Deaton Owens and Barret Bush each had two and McKinley Lee, Caleb Whigham and Austin Vickory each had one point for the red team.

Blue 24, Green 22

Jack Bates had a team-high 10 points Saturday morning, including eight in the second half, to help pace the blue team over the green team, 24-22.

Daniel Hall Autrey was the next leading scorer for the blue team with eight points while teammates Taylor Middleton finished with four and Dylan Jones finished with two.

For the green team, Harper Vinson was the game's leading scorer with 12 points, including a three-pointer in the final period.

Andy Burns also finished with six points and John Coleman Poole finished with four.

Girls

Gray 20, Orange 6

Seven girls scored for the gray team Saturday morning as they cruised to victory over the orange team, 20-6.

Laura Sellers Purdue, Caroline Snellgrove and Hannah Johnson led the gray team with four points apiece while teammate Baily Fox finished with three points.

Mary Sanford Purdue and Bethany Nolan each had two points in the win while Caitlyn Brooks finished with one.

Amy Lewis was the leading scorer for the orange team with four points while teammate Hayden Robinson finished with two.

Red 20, Blue 15

Anne Mathews and Catie Cox each finished with a game-high eight points Saturday morning to help guide the red team to victory over the blue, 20-15.

Twelve of Cox and Mathews' 16 points came in the second half.

Also scoring for the red team in the win was Nedra Toulimin Crosby and Samantha Smith with two points apiece.

For the blue team, Theresa Scott was the leading scorer with seven points while Ashton Scott finished with four points.

Susan Cole and Lexie Barganier also each had two points for the blue team.
