n OCAP heating assist sign-up in county

OCAP will have a mass sign-up for the low-income home energy assistance program in Greenville (Butler County) January 22, 2007 at the Dunbar Center. Applications will be taken from 8:30 a.m. until all funds have been spent.

A pre-appreciation banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 for Pastor Cecilia Adams of House of Prayer Holiness Church to celebrate eight years of faithful service. The Greenville Exchange Club announces its annual selection of Youth of the Year. High school seniors in the area who have met their criteria for graduation are eligible. Youth should complete entry form and submit an essay using the theme, &uot;Youth: Lighting the Fire Within.&uot; Forms and essays should be returned ASAP and no later than March 30 to a high school counselor or any member of the Exchange Club. The Youth of the Year Award honors outstanding students who have exhibited excellence in academics and leadership. National winner receives $10,000 scholarship. First Baptist Church of Greenville presents noted authors, musicians and speakers Steve and Annie Chapman of Nashville for Crosswalk 2007, slated for February 2-4, 2007. n MOPS at Southside

Moms who need a break are invited to join MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at Southside Baptist Church. Meetings begin January 2007. Teaching, discussion, creative projects, and community are offered for all mothers with children from birth through kindergarten. Child care is provided. n Disabled American Veterans seek new members

The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 67 is seeking new members. The unit meets every fourth Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

The unit also has a junior program for ages newborn to age 17.

The unit won first place for community service in the 10 to 50-member category at state competition.

Unit 67 Commander is Alberta Johnson.
