Three dogs attacked and killed a group of tame goats on a farm located on the Montgomery Highway this past Friday.
The owner of the goats, John Laney Griffin, said that the three dogs, a pit bull and two mixed breeds, initially killed 17 of his 40 goats in an attack that took place around 10 a.m. on Feb. 2. Six more goats died later from their injuries.
“I have two more that will probably die, too,” Griffin said. “Their ears were chewed off all the way down to their heads. It was terrible.”
Griffin has had the goats, which he described as being “very tame,” for almost five years.
The goats were valued at $200 each.
Crenshaw County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Pritchett responded to the call.
An incident report was filed at the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office for “allowing dogs to run at large.”
The incident is still under investigation.
