n ASF Gee’s Bend in Selma

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s sold out production of Gee’s Bend will be performed in Selma at Pickard Auditorium on February 16. The production is sponsored by ArtsRevive and The Peoples Bank & Trust Company and supported by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel and the Alabama State Council of the Arts.

The play follows the life of a fictional African American woman, Sadie Pettway, and the women of Gee’s Bend who create magnificent quilts and while doing so, sing hauntingly beautiful gospel melodies.

The one Selma performance will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. in Selma’s Pickard Auditorium on Washington Street. Tickets are available in advance by phone or in person at Truax & Co. (334.874-9600) and at the Selma Dallas County Center for Commerce (334.874.7241) Ticket prices are $18, $15 and $10.

Seven Shape Founder’s Day Program

The South Alabama Seven Shape Singing Convention Center will be hosting its Founder’s Day Program at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the convention center, 10 miles east of Greenville on Highway 10. Proceeds will go to help fun heating and cooling system.

All participants may register at door; be prepared to render at least two song selections.

n Red Level First AOG Singing

The Red Level First Assembly of God Church will hold its monthly singing at 7 p.m. Saturday night, Feb. 17, 2007, featuring the Good News Quartet. Refreshments will be served and Pastor Anna Weaver and her congregation extend a cordial invitation.

n GHS Alumni Game

The Greenville High School Baseball Program will be hosting an Alumni game at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at Beeland Park. All GHS baseball alumni are encouraged to play and anyone interested should call Coach Brad Horn at 202-0320.

The Greenville Exchange Club announces its annual selection of Youth of the Year. High school seniors in the area who have met their criteria for graduation are eligible.
