On Saturday, February 24, 2007, Blake Meadows, son of Ashley Meadows, celebrated his 8th birthday at Fun Factory in Enterprise, Ala., from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

A &uot;hunter’s theme&uot; designed with bright orange trim surrounding a deer’s head was used to decorate the camouflage cake.

Those in attendance were his mother Ashley Meadows; his aunt and uncle Kristin and Scott Kelley; cousins Lara Leigh and Lacy Kelley; and his friends Woody Smith, Payton Owens, and Ben Taylor.

The guests spent one hour having refreshments, which included chicken fries, chips, dippin’ dots and cake, and opening gifts in the party room which was designed with brightly colored helicopter murals painted on all of the walls.

They spent the rest of their time playing glow-in-the-dark goofy golf, rock-climbing, and sampling all the amenities of the indoor soft playground.

On Sunday, February 25, Blake Meadows was honored again with a birthday supper at the home of his grandparents Scott and Laura Elliott.

The guests included his mother Ashley Meadows; aunt and uncle Kristin and Scott Kelley; and cousins Lara Leigh and Lacy Kelley.

A spaghetti meal was served along with a homemade chocolate birthday cake and ice cream.

On Friday, February 23, Curtis and Nancy Petrey and Benny and Jamie Taylor of Petrey attended the Pastor Appreciation Banquet sponsored by the Gideons at the Mitchell Center in Luverne, Ala.

On Saturday, February 24, Benny Taylor and his son Ben attended the Swamp Supper at the Tom Harbin Ag Center.

Others in attendance from Petrey included Nancy and Curtis Petrey.

On Saturday evening, February 24, Miss Jachlynn Taylor was named 1st runner-up in her division of the Luverne School's beauty pageant.

On Monday, February 26, Ashley Meadows attended the Wiregrass Writing Workshop on Quantitative and Qualitative Research at Troy University Dothan from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

This training will certify Ashley to present writing workshops at Learning Fest at Troy University and at the Gulf Coast Writing Conference in Destin, FL, this summer.

On Monday, February 26, Raymond and Bonnie Trotter attended the funeral of Mrs. Getty Hitt in Patsburg.

On Thursday, March 1, Mayor Curtis Petrey attended the Recreational Grant Seminar in Montgomery in order to learn how to administer the grant the town of Petrey received for the new walking trail.

On Sunday, March 4, the Rutledge UMC and Live Oak UMC youth groups will enjoy an afternoon of bowling at BasketBowl in Luverne, Ala., at 2 p.m.

On March 24, the Crenshaw County Women For Christ organization will meet for a program to be presented by Kim Hendrix with WSFA News at the South Luverne Baptist Church from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
