A Brantley man was arrested after he was found with approximately $500 worth of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana in his home.

On Feb. 9, the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office and the Brantley Police Department arrested W.O. Coleman, 72, of 184 North Sasser Street in Brantley after a search warrant turned up crack cocaine and marijuana, along with a weapons' cache.

According to Sheriff's Investigator Robin Daniels, authorities found one shotgun, one pistol, a Marlin .22 rifle, and one SKS assault rifle with several hundred rounds of ammunition, along with $2,600 in cash.

&#8220The pistol was found hidden under some papers on the kitchen table where the bulk of the drugs were,” Daniels said.

Coleman was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and for possession of a controlled substance.

Coleman is currently out on bond.

Daniels said that several search warrants have been carried out within the county during the month of February in cooperation with the District Attorney's office, the Brantley Police Dept., the Dozier Police Dept. and the Luverne Police Dept.

&#8220Everybody has helped and has been working with each other so that we can be effective against the prominent drug dealers in the county,” Daniels said.

Also on Feb. 9, Daniel Bowden, 31, of Troy, and Christy Dunn, 23, were stopped for a traffic violation in Luverne by the Crenshaw County Sheriff's deputies.

Daniels said that during the routine stop, officers discovered that Bowden had prior arrest warrants on him. Also, several items of drug paraphernalia were seen out in the open inside the car.

During the search of the vehicle, five grams of crystal meth, a meth pipe, one bag of marijuana, and two marijuana pipes were recovered.

Both Bowden and Dunn were arrested and placed in the Crenshaw County Jail.

Both face charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth), second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

From a subsequent search that same day, both Bowden and Dunn received a second charge of possession of a controlled substance (meth).

Bowden also faced additional unrelated traffic warrants.
