The Fort Dale Academy Eagle varsity baseball team dropped to 0-3 on the season Saturday with a pair of losses at Monroe Academy.

In the first game, the Eagles fell to the home team Monroe Vols 18-8 and then dropped the second game to Jackson Academy 9-1.

The Eagles will return to the field Friday at 4 p.m. at Pike Liberal Arts in Troy.

Monroe 18, Fort Dale 8

The Monroe Academy Vols put together three consecutive hits and scored two runs to start the first game of a double-header Saturday and never looked back as they cruised to a 10-point win over Fort Dale, 18-8.

Denzil Dees and Phillips McKinley scored off of an Alex Dueitt double in the first, but the Eagles answered those runs when Cory Johnson and Kendall Gibson scored in the top half of the second inning to tie the game at 2-2.

The Vols exploded for seven runs in the bottom half of the second inning and then added nine runs in the fourth to secure the win.

Dueitt was the leading hitter for the Vols, going 2-for-2 with a homerun, a double, five RBI's and two runs scored.

Tyler Rigdon was 2-for-2 with a double, four RBI's and two runs scored, followed by Forrest Smith, who was 3-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.

McKinley was 2-for-4 with two runs and Todd Kilpatrick was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs scored.

For Fort Dale, Blake Mullins was the leading hitter with a 2-for-3 performance, including two RBI's and a run scored.

Ty Newton, Hunter Smith, Steven Lee and Johnson also each added a hit for the Eagles.

Anderson Hudson earned the win for the Vols while Newton picked up the loss for the Eagles.

Jackson 9, Fort Dale 1

Jackson Academy scored two runs in the first inning of Saturday's game against Fort Dale and it's all they needed as they took the 9-1 win in the battle of the Eagles.

After Jackson scored two runs in the first, they added four more runs over the next two innings before Fort Dale eventually scored in the fourth inning when Blake Mullins crossed home off of a Kendall Gibson sacrifice bunt.

Harris, Breedlove, Andrews and Parnell had two hits apiece for Jackson while Gilpin and Rone each had one in the win.

Ty Newton was the leading hitter for the Eagles, going 2-for-3.

Aaron Callen, Caleb Glass, Hunter Smith and Mullins also each had a hit.

Andrews earned the win for Jackson while Callen picked up the loss for Fort Dale.
