The Greenville Tigers' varsity baseball team fell to 2-4 over the weekend following a pair of losses at Brantley Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers started the weekend on a high note with a 10-run win over Highland Home Friday night, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much for Greenville during the Saturday double-header.

Greenville will return to action Friday as they travel to take on the Highland Home Flying Squadron.

Brantley 3, Greenville 2 (Game 1)

Brantley's Austin Brock scored a run in the final inning of the first game Saturday to secure the win after holding off a late charge by the Greenville Tigers, 3-2.

With the game tied at 2-2, Brock started the bottom of the seventh inning with a single off of Greenville's Casey Weston and, three batters later Chase Haws knocked in Brock for the win.

Brock was the leading hitter for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.

Haws and Wesley Hall also each had a hit for Brantley.

For Greenville, only five players reached base and only three of those players had hits.

Ethan Mauch, Lynn Lewis and Casey Weston each had a hit for the Tigers, with Lewis' coming off a sixth-inning homerun blast.

Antonio Smith earned a no decision and Weston picked up his first loss of the season.

Brantley 7, Greenville 1 (Game 2)

Greenville scattered seven hits and stranded six runners Saturday as the Brantley Bulldogs took advantage of 12 hits en route to a 7-1 double-header victory sweep.

Austin Brock and Terry McClain got things going for Brantley in the first inning with back-to-back lead-off singles and then Anthony Gulley put the Bulldogs up for good with a three-run homerun.

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the third inning and one in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.

Gulley was the leading hitter for Brantley, hitting 2-for-4 with a homerun and three runs scored. Brock, McClain and Haws also each had two hits while Wesley Hall, Pat Kilcrease, Stephen Walden and Knighten each had one in the win.

For the Tigers, Lynn Lewis and Demarcus Robinson were the leading hitters each with two hits, including Lewis' homerun.

Ethan Mauch, Casey Weston and Zac Smith also each had a hit.

Parker Winters picked up the loss for the Tigers.

Greenville 12, Highland Home 2

The Greenville Tigers combined for 13 hits Friday as they evened their record with the win over Highland Home, 12-2.

Junior Casey Weston got the scoring started with a two-run homerun in the first inning and the Tigers never looked back.

Josh Longmire was the leading hitter for Greenville, going a perfect 3-for-3, including a triple, three stolen bases and three runs scored.

Weston was next for the Tigers, hitting 2-for-3 with a homerun,

four RBI's and three runs scored.

Ethan Mauch was also 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI's, a double and two runs scored while Stephen Croley and Demarcus Robinson each scattered two hits apiece in the win.

Zac Smith and Lynn Lewis also each had a hit for the Tigers.

For the Flying Squadron, McGough, Tindal, Dickey, Beasley, Petty and Robinson each scattered a hit, with Petty and Robinson scoring the only two runs in the loss.

Ethan Mauch earned the win in five innings of work and did not allow an earned run. He also struck out three batters in the win.
