As the temperatures begin to rise and the grass begins to grown, the McKenzie High School Quarterback Club has the perfect gift idea for the spring.
McKenzie's Quarterback Club will be holding a drawing for a John Deere 115 lawnmower May 18 at the spring jamboree football game.
The Tigers will host New Brockton for the spring game and the lawnmower will be given away as part of a fundraising effort.
McKenzie head coach Miles Brown said having a quarterback club and putting together such events is vital to a program's success.
“(Having a quarterback club) is very important in order to make your program first class,” Brown said. “One of the things we're trying to do is raise funds for the quarterback club.”
And by raising funds for the quarterback club, Brown said all sports will benefit.
“Just because it says quarterback club doesn't mean they just support football,” Brown said.
The football team will begin preparations for the spring game April 30 when they hit the field for the first day of practice.
“Our guys are lifting weights really hard and they are getting stronger,” Brown said. “We will probably go to hitting the first day of practice.”
Tickets for the spring jamboree lawnmower raffle are $10 and anyone interested should contact McKenzie High School at 334-374-2711.
