New Ebenezer Baptist Church congregation and Pastor William Leverette extend a special invitation to all friends to come worship with them in their upcoming revival services.

Pastor Leverette said, &#8220We are excited about our revival services planned for next week, March 11, 12, 13, being Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening.

We realize this is a rather unusual schedule; however, we would love to have you come and join us for worship on each of these occasions.

On Sunday evening the worship service will begin at 6:00 p.m., which is the first day of daylight savings time.

On Monday and Tuesday evenings, the services will start at 7 p.m.”

Rev. Bo Weed, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Troy, Alabama, will be the guest evangelist.

Rev. Weed is a dynamic pastor to his congregation and Rev. Leverette and the New Ebenezer church family believe the Lord will speak through him.

Special singing and music is planned for each service, including members of Southside choir on Sunday night.

They are looking forward to this revival and hope all will accept this as a special invitation.

On Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 6:00 p.m., Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Brantley was the scene of a very special occasion as three young men were ordained as deacons.

Chad Carpenter, Andy Kimbro and Chris Layton were nominated by the church to serve as deacons.

After special music and scripture readings were given by the church's other deacons, the charge to the church was given by Rev. Billy Stephenson, a former pastor of Mt. Zion.

The charge to the candidates was given by Rev. Jim Tate, current pastor of Mt. Zion.

The Ordination Prayer was given by Rev. Kenny Horn, who also served as a former pastor.

The laying on of hands by all ordained men present followed.

Rev. Neal Jackson and Rev. Tate then challenged the commitment of the church family, and prayer was given for the church family.

During this special program, Mr. Lamar Folmar and his wife, Carolyn, were recognized and were presented a plaque of appreciation for their years of faithful service to Mt. Zion.

Lamar recently became an inactive deacon so he and Carolyn could devote more time to the Campers on Missions as missionaries who work with campers and travelers.

After the service, all attending were invited to join in the fellowship hall for dinner that was prepared by the ladies in honor of all guests of the church.

Todd Johnson, Chris Layton and Chad Carpenter, who serve as R. A. directors at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, announce that everyone is invited to attend the Pine Wood Derby Races this Saturday, March 10th, at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The place to be very early this Saturday, March 10th, is the Trendsetter's parking lot.

Trendsetters is located on Highway 331 South in Luverne, between Red Rock and Subway.

A gigantic yard sale will be held by South Luverne Baptist Church Relay for Life Team.

They plan to be set up and ready for customers by 6:30 a.m.

This Week . . . Who litters our roads and countrysides?

According to a 31 state survey conducted by the Institute of Applied Research:

n 1/2 of litter is deliberate and 1/2 is caused by materials being &#8220accidentally” lost from vehicles.

n Males do 72% of deliberate littering and are responsible for 96% of accidental littering.

n 69% of deliberate litterers were accompanied by one or more people.

n 60% of deliberate littering is done by pedestrians and 40% done by motorists.

Composition of Highway Litter:

n 59% paper, 16% cans, 6% bottles, 13% miscellaneous.

n One mile of highway contains approximately 16,000 pieces of litter (estimated cost of pick-up is 30 cents per piece of litter).
