A Rutledge man has been arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

David Johnson, of 238 Cherokee House Road, a black male, was arrested Saturday evening, March 3, after a search warrant executed by the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office turned up the cocaine as well as a small amount of marijuana.

During the search, deputies found a crack pipe under the chair in which Johnson was sitting. Upon searching his person, they discovered a bag containing six crack rocks. During questioning, Johnson admitted that it was his cocaine.

Deputies also found the marijuana, plus a set of scales.

He was taken to the Crenshaw County Jail.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), first-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Investigator Robin Daniels, Johnson was already out on bond at the time of this arrest for a previous search warrant where he had been arrested for possession of crack cocaine in Nov. of 2006.

&#8220We'll request the District Attorney's office to file a motion to revoke the previous bond of $30,000 on Mr. Johnson, and we'll ask for him to be held on no bond,” Daniels said. &#8220We'll ask for no bond because both of these search warrants were the results of undercover investigations where cocaine had been purchased out of his residence.”

Daniels said that the Sheriff's Office was working closely with District Attorney John Andrews to prosecute all of the drug cases within the county.
