Approximately 20 applicants from Greenville and beyond are vying for the position of Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce director.

Chamber of Commerce President-Elect Jeff Adams said the process was &#8220going smoothly.”

We've received all the applications. We are now in the process of setting up interviews with the candidates,” Adams said.

&#8220We hope to have all the interviews set up in the next week to two weeks.”

When asked if there was a deadline set for choosing the new director, Adams said there was not.

&#8220We are trying to not put time restraints on this process. We really want to pick the right person for the job. That's why we have taken our time about this.”

Chamber of Commerce President Judy Gettys agrees taking time and not rushing the hiring process for the new Chamber director is &#8220very important.”

&#8220For years, we have heard that Greenville was on the cusp of exploding in growth. And now, we really are,” Gettys said.

&#8220Look at the progress out on the by-pass area, around Wal-Mart; at the industries that have come here in recent years. We want someone in that director position that will work for both the industries and businesses already in place and who will work to bring new opportunities to the city.”
