It's that time of the year again. It's time to get things rolling for the 2008 Crenshaw County Junior Miss Program.

This year's special night has been slated for Saturday, June 16; however, the deadline to sign up for the county's program is Sunday, May 6.

Contestants will be busy the entire week before the June 16 event, working on dance routines, putting together costumes and outfits, and making new friends and memories.

Junior Miss is the largest scholarship program in the United States for young women. Crenshaw County has been a part of the Junior Miss Program since 1976, awarding approximately $3,400 in scholarships to upcoming seniors each year.

This year, orientation for the contestants and the &#8220little sisters” will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at the Luverne Public Library. Contestants must be young ladies who are about to enter their senior year of high school, while the &#8220little sisters” are young ladies who are entering their junior year of high school, and who wish to learn more about the program for themselves.

Any businesses or individuals who are interested in contributing to the program and in becoming a part of the &#8220Spirit of Junior Miss” can make a tax-deductible donation before June 1.
