Special to The Journal

Almost every family in Crenshaw County has had a friend or family member affected by cancer.

As a way of combating this disease, several members of the Rutledge Community are sponsoring &#8220Bingo for Relay” on Saturday, April 21 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. It will be held at the Rutledge Community Center.

All money taken in will be donated to the Crenshaw County Relay for Life to be held at E.L. Turner Park in Luverne on April 27.

Everyone is invited to come out and support this great effort.

It is through local fundraising efforts that research and educational programs are available to try and stop this deadly disease.

All prizes will be worth at least $10.

They will include some wonderful homemade cakes and gift certificates. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and sweets will be served at reasonable prices.

Anyone interested in helping, in donating a prize, or if you would simply rather donate money to this event, please contact Kathryn Tomlin at 335-5027 or 335-5326, or contact Rita Brown at 335-3055 or 335-6624.

Through Relay, we can make a difference in the fight against cancer.
