The Brantley Bulldogs have moved into the first round of the State Class 1-A Playoffs this week after being ranked number two in Class 1-A. The Bulldogs won the Area 3 Championship and have an overall season record of 22-10.

Tuesday night, the Bulldogs went up against the Notasulga Blue Devils, defeating them 12 -1. The next playoff game is scheduled for this Friday, April 27, at home beginning at 2:30 p.m. It is a doubleheader against Fayetteville. If it is a split win, the Bulldogs will face Fayetteville again Saturday morning at 11:00.

During Spring Break, the Bulldogs traveled to Valdosta, Ga., for a Spring Break Tournament that was held in Blakely, Ga.

On Wednesday, April 18, the Bulldogs defeated Early County High School 8 to 2, according to Head Baseball Coach Ashley Kilcrease.

Early County High is a 2-A school, Kilcrease said.

Chase Haws was the winning pitcher against Early County, while Austin Brook, Terry McClain and Wesley Hall had two hits each.

On Thursday, the group visited the Wild Adventures Theme Park.

&#8220We stayed there until two that afternoon, and then we went back to the hotel to get ready for a double-header,” Kilcrease said.

The games were played at Echols County High School. The Bulldogs dropped the first game against Brooks County High School 7 to 6.

Wesley Hall hit a two-run homerun against Brooks County.

In the second game, the Bulldogs came back against Echols County High and won 8 to 7.

Stephen Walker pitched five innings to get the win, and Pat Kilcrease pitched two innings to get the save.

Kilcrease said that the team got up last Friday morning and headed back to the theme park until beginning the trip home later that afternoon.

&#8220We all had a great time, and the kids were really well behaved,” he said. &#8220It was a good trip for everyone.”
