The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for some outstanding high school seniors to serve as Camellia Girls and Chamber Pages for 2007-2008.

Chamber Executive Director Francine Wasden has been visiting the city's high schools to promote the program, which chooses 12 boys and 12 girls from 10th through 12th grades to serve as &#8220ambassadors” for Greenville's businesses and industries.

&#8220The program is a great opportunity for students to learn, grow and develop their social skills as they learn about our local businesses,” Wasden said.

&#8220It is also a wonderful thing for them to put on their resumes for college.”

The Camellia Girls and Chamber Pages assist with such events as Chamber After Hours, the Low Country Boil, ribbon cuttings and open houses.

Interested students should have an 85 overall grade average. A 500-word essay promoting Greenville as a great place for businesses to locate is also a requirement for each applicant.

Deadline for applications is May 9; interviews will begin May 17.

Applicants can pick up forms at their high school's front office.

&#8220We are excited about picking a new group of students and look forward to giving them a behind-the-scenes look at how our businesses work,” Wasden said.
