Dixie Chicks rally to take close win over Red Sox

Although the Red Sox scored eight runs in the third inning Thursday, the Dixie Chicks rallied from behind to scored seven runs in the fourth, thus taking the Dixie Ponytails win, 11-10.

Offensively for the Dixie Chicks (2-3), Brittany gard, Kendra McNaughton, Jasmine Morris and Anne Matthews each scored two runs, including a double by Morris and Matthews and a single by McNaughton. Mia Taylor, Lexi Barganier and Brook Bland also each scored a run in the win.

For the Red Sox (2-3), Bridgejae Patterson and Haley Williams scored two runs apiece while Hannah Johnson, Ashley Ballard, Brittney Reaves, Kenyatta Peterson, Maria Betton and Kristan Reaves each scored one.

Kristen Welch, Tyniah Crenshaw, Johnson, and Patterson also each had a hit for the Sox.

The Dixie Chicks will return to action Monday as they take on the Angels at 7:30 p.m. The Red Sox will take on the Heat Monday at 6 p.m.

Heat 23, Angels 0

Daphne Moore pitched a no-hit shutout Thursday, striking out nine, as the Heat burned the Angels for the win, 23-0.

At the plate for the Heat (5-0), Taylor Merry was the leading scorer with four runs, followed by Casey Graham, Rebecca Dicks, Hanah Burnett, Dana Moore and Daphne Moore with three runs apiece.

Faith Kenny also scored two runs for the Heat while Whitney Boswell and Kayla Herring each scored one in the win.

The Heat will return to action Monday as they take on the Red Sox at 6 p.m. The Angels will take on the Dixie Chicks Monday at 7:30 p.m.
