Ben Bates shot a team-low 82 Monday as the Fort Dale Academy golf team defeated Wilcox Academy and Escambia Academy 346-358-354 in the last match of the season before Monday's AISA State Tournament at Cambrian Ridge.

&#8220Our team has been a little inconsistent leading up to the State Tournament,” Fort Dale head coach Reggie Mantooth said. &#8220We played very well last Thursday at home, but struggled a little (Monday) in Evergreen.”

Davis Watts was next for the Eagles with an 83, followed by Sanders Hancock with a 90, Cam Norman with a 91 and Shanks Simmons with a 95.

&#8220Cam is just a seventh grader, but he has played well this year,” Mantooth said. &#8220This is Shanks' first year on the team, and he has improved throughout the season.”

Although Lee-Scott is the favorite to Monday and Tuesday's State Tournament at Cambrian Ridge, Mantooth knows his players have a shot to win.

&#8220Davis, Ben and Sanders have the most experience and I expect them to play well at State,” Mantooth said. &#8220I think we have a chance to play well since our kids are familiar with Cambrian Ridge.”
