In an age of specialization, there is one rodeo clown and barrel man who has stayed true to America's number one sport.

David &#8220Slim” Weeks is one of the most exciting, entertaining rodeo stars of today, and he will be on hand for the Crenshaw County Rodeo May 11 and 12 to help celebrate its 20th anniversary. The rodeo will be held at the Tom Harbin Ag Center on Airport Road in Luverne and will begin each night at 7:30 p.m.

Raised in Bonifay, Florida, &#8220Slim” Weeks has seen much of the United States from behind the painted face and baggy pants of a rodeo clown.

&#8220I love to make people laugh, and, if only for a few minutes I can make them forget their problems, I feel I have accomplished more than a $100-an-hour psychiatrist,” Weeks said.

In a recent interview, Weeks said even though

&#8220people talk different and sound different from region to region, one thing remains constantŠ. People who enjoy a good rodeo are the people that make America great.”

Weeks may seem like the &#8220boy next door,” but when he's in the rodeo arena, his clown acts and antics display his serious love and devotion to the sport.

The Crenshaw County Rodeo is sponsored by the Luverne Kiwanis Club and the Crenshaw Saddle Club. All rodeo proceeds go directly back into the county through numerous civic functions.
