Taylor shuts down Orioles

Chip Taylor pitched a two-hit shutout Tuesday night as the Rangers held off the Orioles for the Dixie Youth victory, 4-0.

Offensively for the Rangers (4-1), Taylor was 1-for-2 with a double and a run score, Dylan Jones was 1-for-3 with a double, Wesley Scott was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Chase Whiddon was 1-for-3 and Jason Schofield was 1-for-2.

Walker Trawick and Taylor Middleton also each scored a run in the win.

For the Orioles, andy Burns and Cade Tillery had the only two hits.

The Rangers will return to action Tuesday as they take on the Nationals at 6 p.m. The Orioles will take on the Royals Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Nationals 4, Royals 3

Time ran out on the Royals Tuesday as Matthew Bender scored the winning run in the fifth inning to lift the Nationals over the Royals, 4-3.

Bender was the leading scorer for the Nationals (3-2) with two runs, followed by Harper Vinson and Connally Walters each with a run scored.

Davis Crocker had the only hit for the Nationals with a fourth-inning single.

For the Royals, John Dun n had the only hit while Timmy Gorum, Roscoe Moorhead and Ryan Taylor each scored a run.

The Nationals will return to action Tuesday as they take on the Rangers at 6 p.m. The Royals will take on the Orioles Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
