What better way to bring in the 20th Annual Crenshaw County Rodeo next weekend than by starting things off with a bang?

On Thursday, May 10, the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce will once again sponsor a street dance to help kick off the county's rodeo, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12.

The street dance will be held in front of the Crenshaw County Courthouse and will begin around 7 p.m. and last until.

Everything is free; however, reserved tables will be set up for $100 each with the money going toward scholarships for the county's seniors.

The band County Line will be on tap to provide the evening's entertainment. The band is comprised of Kyle Richburg, Benjie Sanders, Steve Morgan and Scotty Henley.

&#8220We want everyone to make their plans to come out and join us for a fun evening,” Sherri Richburg, Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce president, said. &#8220A lot of people were disappointed when we didn't have the street dance last year, so we are really looking forward to it this year.”

And, after everyone has enjoyed the street dance, all are invited to attend this year's 20th annual rodeo, which will be held at the Tom Harbin Ag Center on Airport Road in Luverne.

The rodeo begins May 11 and 12 at 7:30 each evening.

Everyone will enjoy barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling, bronc riding and, of course, bull riding. There will also be the kids' calf scramble both nights for spectators to enjoy.

Advance tickets are available now at Luverne Hardware and at First Citizens Bank in Luverne. Also, advance tickets can be purchased from Luverne Kiwanis Club members.

The advance tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. At the gate, tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.

Friday night, May 11, is &#8220Ball Jersey Shirt Night,” and Saturday night, any child 12 and under who is accompanied by a paying adult and is wearing a ball jersey or any year Crenshaw County Rodeo t-shirt can get in for free.

The Crenshaw County Rodeo is sponsored by the Luverne Kiwanis Club and the Crenshaw Saddle Club. All rodeo proceeds go directly back into the county through numerous civic functions.
