Giants, Rangers and White Sox open Mite League season with wins

Rodney Davidson, Chase Mansmann, Nathan Scoggins and Kyler Weeks each had two hits Saturday as the Giants picked up the opening day Mite league victory over the Yankees, 7-6.

Scoring for the Giants (1-0) was Davidson and Trey Johnson with two runs apiece.

Johnson and Warren Matthews also each scattered a hit in the win.

For the Yankees (0-1), Joseph Price was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Tyrek McCall was 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park homerun and one run scored, DeArius Mitchell was 2-for-2 with an inside-the-park homerun and one run scored, Jeffrey Tillery was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Tristan Boutwell was 1-for-2 with a run scored while Kaleb Rinehart, Mack Acree, Austin Nichols, Garrett Till and Dallas Stone each had a hit.

The Giants will take on the Rangers Thursday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 1 and the Yankees will take on the Mets at 7 p.m., on Dunbar 1.

Rangers 11, Pirates 3

Tripp Richardson was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored Saturday as the Rangers shot down the Pirates, 11-3.

Luke Taylor and Tyler Thompson each had two hits, including a triple, and two runs scored for the Rangers (1-0) while Daniel McKeown also had two hits and two runs scored.

Cole English and Brian Folds were each 2-for-3 with a run scored, including a double by Folds in the fourth inning, while Dedric Owens was 1-for-3 with one run scored.

For the Pirates (0-1), Clay Newton was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored, Mason Keen was 2-for-2, Leo Parker was 1-for-2 with a double and Logan Vickery was 1-for-2 with one run scored.

The Rangers will take on the Giants Thursday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 1 and the Pirates will take on the White Sox at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 2.

White Sox 11, Mets 1

Eleven players on the White Sox scored one run Saturday as the Sox picked up the victory over the Mets, 11-1.

Offensively for the Sox (1-0), Brian Hill was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run scored, Brandon White was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Taylor Thomas was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Anthony Sellers was 1-for-2 with an inside-the-park homerun.

Mark Patterson, Tyler Owens, Ryan Davis, Skylar Moorer, Trevor Langford, Jacob Till, Ben Gafford and Jarrod Johnson also each had a hit and a run scored in the win.

For the Mets (0-1), Sidaryus Harris was 2-for-2, Blake Anthony and Clay Thompson were each 1-for-2 and Cameron Brooks was 1-for-1 with a run scored.

The White Sox will take on the Pirates Thursday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 2 while the Mets will take on the Yankees at 7 p.m., on Dunbar 1.
