Following Wednesday's practice, McKenzie head coach Miles Brown held a draft to evenly divide teams for Friday's Blue-White intra-squad game.

Brown must have done a good job as Charles Thompson tipped a pass from Emmanuel Johnson, which in turn was intercepted by Brandon Sellers, as the blue stopped the white's final drive, thus ending the game in a 22-22 tie.

&#8220The leadership of the blue team really fought hard for them,” Brown said in reference to players like Sattrick Rudolph, Elrick Ball, Curtis Ball and Chance Davis. &#8220You could tell when they were downŠ they brought everybody together.”

&#8220They do the coaching for me by being leaders,” he added.

Although the blue team trailed 14-0 early, both teams swapped the lead in the second and third quarter before the game was called at the end of the third quarter.

The White team got on the board first when Jerry Cobb broke a 25-yard run for a touchdown and then got the ball back immediately when Emmanuel Johnson recovered a fumbled.

Johnson raced 20 yards for the touchdown a few plays later to increase the lead to 14-0.

&#8220Emmanuel Johnson stepped up today as a true, young leader,” Brown said of the up-coming freshman.

Although Sattrick Rudolph kept the blue team alive with a long run on third down, Ethan Davis earned a crushing sack to push the blue team back on the final play of the first quarter.

The blue team wasted no time moving the ball in the second quarter as Rudolph once again saved the drive with a long fourth-down run before completing a 25-yard touchdown pass to Calvin &#8220Scooter” Henderson with 10:55 left in the half.

&#8220Scooter [Calvin Henderson] is the Freddie Milons of McKenzie,” Brown said of the up-coming sophomore's athletic ability. &#8220We'll have an offensive package for nothing but Calvin Henderson.”

After a white team fumble, the blue team once again capitalized when Elrick Ball bruised his way 33 yards for a touchdown and then the two-point conversion run to give the blue team a 16-14.

The lead wouldn't last as Johnson raced 60 yards for the white team touchdown, giving the white a 22-16 lead following the two-point run by Jarrell Mobley.

Halfway through the third quarter, Rudolph struck again from five yards out to tie the game at 22-22.

Neither team would score again.

&#8220This game gives us a chance as coaches to compare and contrast differences from last week to this week,” Brown said.

The Tigers will return to practice Monday before concluding spring practice Friday at home against the New Brockton Gamecocks.
