Petrey and surrounding communities recognize local graduates

On Sunday, May 20, 2007, Mr. Donald Hermeling, Mrs. Peggy Hermeling, and their son Danny traveled to West Palm Beach, Fla., to attend the graduation of their son Stephen from Northwood University.

When they return, they plan to attend the graduation of their grandson Keith from Luverne High School on May 24, 2007.

Keith was awarded two scholarships to Troy University, a leadership scholarship and a band scholarship.

Both scholarships include full tuition to Troy University for four years.

Keith will be attending Troy University in the fall where he will be majoring in accounting and will be an active member of the Sound of the South Marching Band.

On Wednesday, May 23, three youth members of Campground UMC, Gaston Jeffcoat, Josh Thomas, and Luke Carr, graduated from Luverne Elementary School.

Luke Carr was named valedictorian of his 6th grade class.

On May 12,

Mr. Jack and Mrs. Janice Beall of Elba attended the Petrey Community Supper and visited Mr. Curtis and Nancy Petrey following the meal.

Miss Ansley, Miss Amelia, and Miss Caroline Inlow, granddaughters of Mr. Kline and Mrs. Patsy Jeffcoat, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kline Jeffcoat.

On Wednesday, May 23, Mrs. Valeta Spradley entertained her daughter Carol for a visit for several days at her home in Petrey.

Mr. Scott and Mrs. Kristin Kelley and their daughters Lara Leigh and Lacey spent the day with Mrs. Cleo Kelley and Mr. David Kelley at the Alabama River.
