The Mission Team from South Luverne Baptist Church will host a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, June 13th.

Make plans now to come and help support them, and raise money to go to Honduras for their summer mission trip.

The serving will begin in the SLBC fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m.

The price is $5.00 per plate, and that includes tea and a dessert.

Apartments in Luverne, recently spent a week at Perdido Beach Resort at Orange Beach, Alabama.

This was the 2007 annual meeting and conference for ALCARH (Alabama Council for Affordable & Rural Housing).

The seminar was conducted by Steven L. Rosenblatt, president of The Spectrum Seminars, Inc., located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

One of the highlights of the week was the awards luncheon held on Thursday and to witness how many young people were blessed to receive thousands of dollars in scholarships from ALCARH to help further their education.

These were young people who live in rural housing and excel academically in school.

The scholarship program was established by the ALCARH Board of Directors.

Mathew Lee Bozeman of Mobile joined his grandparents, the Norsworthys, on Thursday for lunch and visited a while.

The Alabama Crenshaw Baptist Association WMU had a Mission Explosion for the CIA's, G.A.'s and Youth on Mission Saturday, June 2, 2007.

Brantley Baptist was the host church for the meeting.

There were five churches represented: Dozier Baptist, Chapel Hill Baptist, South Luverne Baptist, New Ebenezer and Brantley Baptist, with thirty in attendance.

Everyone enjoyed worship time, games and crafts and especially the wonderful hot dogs and all the trimmings the Brantley ladies fixed for us.

It was a wonderful day with the kids and the Lord.

PRAISE REPORT FROM REV. JIM TATE . . . On May 4th – 6th,

over 30 teenagers gathered together for Brantley's first annual &#8220Disciple Now” weekend.

The theme was The Point and the theme verse was &#8220For in Him we live, move, and have our being.”

The teenagers met Friday night at the Bethany Center for orientation and pizza.

They met their host home parents and their small group leaders.

The host home parents were JR and Debbie Roberts, Dr. Charles and Susan Tompkins, Earl and Gayle Henderson, Jerry and Elaine Strickland, Chad and Michele Carpenter, Steve and Susan Carpenter and Jimmy and Reba Mason.

After orientation, they departed to their host homes for their first small group session.

Saturday morning they had breakfast and a quiet time at their host home.

From there they traveled to Brantley Baptist Church for their first rally.

Reggie McCallister was the guest speaker.

He is a youth minister at Picayune United Methodist Church in Picayune, Mississippi.

Ashley Cunningham, a student at Troy University and a member of the Baptist Campus Ministries, led worship.

The first rally was wonderful and several decisions were made.

After the rally, the teenagers went with their small group leaders for their second small group session. They had sandwiches, chips and desserts for lunch.

After lunch they played a live game of Clue.

The teenagers had to complete team building activities before they were allowed to enter a room and talk to a character.

The characters were Paul Allen as Colonel Mustard, Don Dunbar as Mr. Green, Marilyn Foster as Mrs. Peacock, Dr. Charles Tompkins as Professor Plum, Kelly Kilcrease as Miss Scarlet and Melissa Bush as Mrs. White.

The teenagers enjoyed the game and two teams solved the mystery.

After the game of Clue, they joined their leaders for their third small group session.

After session three, they returned to their host homes.

At their host homes, they had some free time.

Some played basketball, some swam, and some took a nap.

After free time, they had their fourth small group session.

When they finished, they all met at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for supper.

They had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, dip and dessert.

After supper they had their second rally.

God really did work in the lives of young people that night.

Numerous amounts of decisions and recommitments were made.

After the rally, they had ice cream, and T-shirts were passed out.

When they left Mt. Zion, they returned to their host homes for the last small group session.

Sunday morning, they met at the Bethany Center for breakfast and the last rally.

Reggie spoke and he offered an open mike for anyone who wanted to share their Disciple Now experience and what the Lord was doing for them in their lives.

Several students boldly stood up and shared.

The Lord has touched the lives of over 30 students in Brantley, and they are excited to see how He is going to use them to make a difference.

Disciple Now was sponsored by Brantley United Methodist Church, Brantley Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

The steering committee members were Kim Graham, Terri Dewrell, Lisa Harris, Susan Tompkins and Shelley Davis.

We are in prayer for next year's Disciple Now, and we can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for us.
