The Memorial Day weekend saw a lot of activity for the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office with Sheriff Charles West reporting 12 cases of domestic violence incidents.

One such incident occurred on Saturday, May 26, at 6 p.m. on Johnson Road in Luverne.

Deputies Jeremy Douglas and Heath Truman answered a domestic dispute call when Natasha Diane Lee of Luverne reported that her brother Nathan Dewayne Lee of Rutledge had come to her residence and demanded the return of his property.

According to the sheriff's report, Natasha Lee stated that her brother began &#8220snatching up a stereo and other property that did not belong to him.”

He also warned her not to call the police.

Nathan Lee was charged with domestic violence/harassment, third degree, which is a misdemeanor. The status of the case is pending.

Also, James E. Jones, 64, of Petrey Highway in Luverne was arrested on Friday, May 25, for a D.U.I.

At the time of the arrest, the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office was conducting a checkpoint at Bowden Road in Honoraville and County Road 68. According to the sheriff's report, when Jones arrived on the scene, deputies detected the smell of alcohol. Jones was administered the Field Sobriety Test as well as other tests, and failed. His blood alcohol content reading was .07.

Jones was arrested and placed in the Crenshaw County Jail. The arresting officer was Deputy Heath Truman.
