Chasity Faulk was chosen to represent Luverne High School at the 2007 session of Alabama Girls State, held on the campus of Troy University in Troy.

For one week, she will become a citizen in an imaginary state, taking part in the political life of her community, primarily through campaigning for and electing city, county and state offices.

She will learn the operation of government by participating in party caucuses and through the election process.

Well-known speakers and other state, county and city officials are expected to visit and to enlighten the young women on their civic responsibilities.

Faulk plans to campaign for the office of governor.

She will speak to her sponsoring organization, Luverne High School, and to other organizations upon invitation, about her experiences at the American Legion Auxiliary Alabama Girls State.

The daughter of Ealnor and Ken Lyons and Richard Faulk, and the granddaughter of Evelyn Faulk, she was selected to attend Alabama Girls State June 3-8, 2007.

Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Alabama Girls State is a laboratory of practical government, a personal application of the duties, responsibilities and privileges of America.

Faulk is a member of the Luverne varsity cheerleaders, of which she is captain for the 2007-2008 school year.

She is also a member of the Luverne varsity basketball team, the Key Club, Interact Club, Health Occupations Students of America, Diamond Dolls, Symphonic Band and youth Rotary leader.

Faulk is also a member of the National Honor Society, where she has been on the National Honor Roll for three years.

She was also named Who's Who Among American High School Students.

Faulk attends Luverne First Assembly of God, where she is a member of the youth group.
