Drunken minors almost hit deputy#039;s vehicle Friday night

Three minors were arrested for possession and consumption of alcohol after their vehicle almost hit a Crenshaw County deputy's vehicle last Friday night.

On Friday, July 7, around 11:30 p.m., Deputy Heath Truman's patrol car was almost struck by a blue Chevy as it pulled onto South Forest Avenue from Rutledge Street in downtown Luverne.

The driver, Zachary Ryan Hodge, 20, of Luverne, was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).

According to the sheriff's report, Hodge had a &#8220strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, and his eyes were blood shotŠ..he (Hodge) stated that he had drunk three or four beersŠ”

Hodge's blood alcohol content registered at .08.

The two passengers with Hodge were Stanley Allan Stanford, 18, of Luverne, and Tony Glen Rayburn, Jr., 18, of Rutledge. Stanford's blood alcohol content registered at .09, and Rayburn's registered at .01. Both were arrested for minor in consumption and minor in possession of alcohol.

All three were transported to the Crenshaw County Jail.
