Two teenagers were arrested in Brantley for criminal mischief, third degree, after a homeowner caught them kicking down two mailboxes.

Wayne Adcock of Morgan Mill Road in Brantley called sheriff's deputies on Sunday, July 8, after he observed Robert Benjamin Jones, 18, of Kinston, Ala., and a 17-year-old white male from Opp, Ala., kicking down the mailbox belonging to his neighbor, James Barron.

According to the Crenshaw County Sheriff's report, the two males then kicked down Adcock's mailbox. Adcock began to follow the pair in his truck while attempting to contact the sheriff's office.

Adcock confronted the two males, who denied any wrongdoing, and then they drove off while he continued to follow them.

The report states that the suspects abandoned the ATV at the intersection of Parker Creek Road and Morgan Mill Road.

At this time, deputies Heath Truman and Mason Adcock arrived and searched for the suspects.

The 17-year-old was found and was also charged for a minor in consumption. Jones was found several hours later. Both suspects admitted to the deputies that they had kicked over the mailboxes and agreed to repair the damages.
