Remembering Roger Pride

With the death of Roger Pride early Friday morning, a piece of Butler County's history passed into eternity. It became obvious to us Friday as news spread about Mr. Pride, that he was well-known and well-liked.

Through his work at the Butler County News, that is now a sister newspaper to the Advocate, his years on the Georgiana City Council, Kiwanis Club and his lifelong devotion to God, he was the perfect son for our county. He served his country faithfully in World War II, earning various medals for his work.

We will miss Roger for his laughter, his knowledge of Butler County history and so much more. He was a devoted family man and just the right kind of person to know.

Heaven is a better place today because he is there, and we are left to mourn what we've lost. – Greenville Advocate
