Elvin Gene Skipper

Elvin Gene Skipper, 51, a resident of Greenville, died Saturday, May 17, 2008. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday May 20, 2008 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. Allen Stephenson officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing. Interment followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Skipper is survived by his wife, Sue Skipper of Greenville; sons Bobby (Abigail) Skipper of Greenville, John (Lauren) Skipper of Greenville; daughter, Carolyn Skipper of Greenville; stepson, Anthony (Susan) Brys of Greenville; parents Elvin and Martha Skipper of Greenville; brother, Billy (Janice); sister Patricia (Arthur) Griggers of Senoia, Ga.; granddaughter, Isabella Skipper; two grandsons, Clayton and Hampton Skipper; one step-grandson, Gentry Brys and one step-granddaughter, Piper Brys; one nephew, Jason (Jennifer) Skipper of Greenville, and one niece, Kristin (Mitchell) Bass of Pensacola, Fla, also many other family members and devoted friends.

Mr. Skipper was born in Fort Deposit on April 28, 1957. He graduated from Greenville Adademy and later attended Troy University in Troy. After years of being employed in the automobile industry, Gene opened G.S. Auto Exchange in Greenville, followed by Skipper and Sons Construction Company and Greenville Towing.
