William E. (Bill) McCraney

William E. (Bill) McCraney, died on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. in SICU at Baptist Hospital South in Montgomery following a tractor accident on his farm.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 from the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home in Greenville with the ministers David Sargeant and Michael Coleman officiating.

Burial followed in Myrtlewood Cemetery in Fort Deposit.

Mr. McCraney was born August 14, 1931 and was preceded in death by his father and mother Ulric and Velma McCraney and his brother, Ben McCraney.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary David Harrison McCraney; one son, Howard (Julie) McCraney; two daughters, Sharon M. (Ronnie) Paulk and Leigh McCraney; one brother, Joe (Janice) McCraney; one sister, Rebecca M. (Mack) Kirkland; five grandchildren, Candace and Jake McCraney and Ashley, Brett and Brian Paulk, and two nephews, Jason and Jeffrey Kirkland.

An active member of the Fort Deposit Church of Christ, he was retired from the State of Alabama Highway Department after 37 years as a Civil Engineer. He was also a member of the armed forces for two years during the Korean Conflict. IN retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working around the farm, golfing with his buddies, and Alabama softball.

The family would like to especially thank all the doctors and nurses of the Trauma Unit of Baptist South for the outstanding care and devotion given to &uot;Mr. McCraney&uot; the last 14 days of his life.

Their professionalism and kindness will touch our hearts forever.
