Lady Bulldogs sweep Samson

It took the Lady Bulldogs three games, but a 2-1 win against the varsity Lady Tigers of Samson gave Andalusia a clean sweep in volleyball action Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs won the first game by a final score of 15-9. Mary Beth Wilkes closed out the first game serving for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs earned three points behind her powerful serves to win the game with an ace to earn game-point.

In the second game, the Lady Tigers bared their claws pouncing on the Lady Bulldogs early.

The Lady Tigers built a 6-0 lead before the Lady Bulldogs could break serve. Samson went on to win the second game 15-11 holding off a late rally by the Lady Bulldogs.

Hope Riley played a key role in the rally to bring the Lady Bulldogs from two within two points of Samson at 12-14 when she served for five consecutive points, including one point via an ace.

Samson, however, won the second game.

Andalusia won the third and deciding game after breaking free of their leash.

Once again, Riley played a key role. The Lady Bulldogs won the coin toss to earn serving rights to start the game and Riley served for seven consecutive points.

Sarah Anne Wilkes also helped power the Lady Bulldogs with a spike for a kill during the run.

Hannah Bush, a freshman member of the Lady Bulldogs, did her part, also serving for four points to stretch Andalusia's lead to 11-1. Bush had an ace during the run and got some help from Mary Beth Wilkes, via a spike, for a kill and a point.

Samson attempted a late rally, trimming Andalusia's lead to 6-12.

The Lady Bulldogs, however, would not be denied and scored three points behind the serving of Mary Beth Wilkes for a 15-6 win. She served one ace during the stretch.

ANDALUSIA WINS

IN JV ACTION

The JV Lady Bulldogs also won against Samson on Tuesday. The JV Lady Bulldogs, however, only needed two games to win the match.

In the first match, Andalusia posted a 15-11 win.

Megan Faust started the game serving for Andalusia as the Lady Bulldogs built a 7-1 lead.

Meghan Sasser served for four points later in the match to build an 11-1 lead. Mollie Frazier had one kill during the run.

Frazier also had a big game serving for Andalusia. She had two aces during a run of four points, including game-point, to end the game via a 15-4 win.

The JV Lady Bulldogs won the second game by a final score of 15-11.

AMS SQUAD WINS, AGAIN

The Andalusia Middle School Lady Bulldogs also tamed the Samson Lady Tigers on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs entered the match after a tri-match in Kinston on Monday.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Geneva in Kinston by a final score of

15-10, 15-13. In the second match, the AMS Lady Bulldogs came up short against Kinston by a final score of 6-15, 13-15.

On Tuesday, the AMS Lady Bulldogs defeated Samson 15-2, 15-9.

Next for the Andalusia volleyball teams are matches against the visiting T.R. Miller Lady Tigers on Thursday, Sept. 19. The first match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
