The Red Level Tigers (1-0) will play host to the Flomaton Hurricanes (1-0) this Friday night in their first region game of the season.

Flomaton is coming off of a 57-7 win last week when they defeated Class 3A Calhoun.

Tigers head coach Tim Grimes said Flomaton has a good football team.

“All I can say is wow,” Grimes said. “They’ve got a really good football team and a really good running back.”

For practice this week, Grimes said the team is primarily working on blocking.

“We’re just trying to work on us,” he said. “We are so young and are trying to get better.”

Grimes added that the team is working hard on their shotgun snaps.

Last Thursday night, the Tigers beat Kinston 38-0 in their first game of the season and Grimes said the team’s mentality is such that right now, “they’re happy with themselves.”

“They feel like they’re undefeated and they’re happy with themselves,” Grimes said. “With Flomaton being such a high-caliber team and being so good, that’s the way it is and that’s who is on our schedule. The team is focused, but still very young.”

Grimes said specifically that the Tigers would like to spread out the offense against their opponent Friday night.

“We’re going to spread them out,” Grimes said. “That’s the way it’s going to look unless something changes between now and Friday. Flomaton is too good up front. On defense, we’re trying to make sure the kids like to run out of their formations. It’ll be a David versus Goliath game.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday night in Red Level.
