The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles volleyball team rallied to claim their first win of the season Tuesday night against New Brockton in four games 25-15, 25-21, 8-25, 25-17.

This win for the Lady Eagles is the first win for the school since starting their volleyball program this fall.

Head coach Jerry Davis said this win is in “uncharted territory.”

“That’s the first win in school history,” Davis said. “That’s uncharted territory there. I’m really excited. I’ve been doing this thing for 38 years and won state championships (in basketball) and all, but I’m just proud of the girls. They’ve worked hard at it.”

Despite the win, Davis added the team is not at the championship level, but the work ethic has proved that it can be possible.

“We’re not by any means a championship caliber team right now, but at the same time they can work hard enough so that when we play people in our caliber the improvement shows,” he said. “We’re competitive in that we can play with people and finish it out. This is big, this is the first time they’ve ever won the first game of a match.”

Davis said the team has been working on what needs improving everyday at practice.

“We’ve been working on (pass-receive) everyday and I know what we’re supposed to be doing and I’ve had a girl from Florida come up here and help us,” he said. “I don’t know enough about the game, I’m learning just like they are. We’re just extremely proud and happy and that’s uncharted territory.”

The Lady Eagles will travel to play T.R. Miller in Brewton tonight. Play starts at 4:30 p.m. with junior varsity.
