The Florala Wildcats (1-2) have been working hard at practice this week to get ready for their rivalry game against Red Level (1-3) this Friday night.

The last time the two teams met was in 2005, where the Wildcats pulled out the win 33-7.

Florala coach Stan Gooden said that his team will be working on their tackling during practice this week.

“Red Level has a lot of speed and their backs sometimes look like they’ve got Vaseline on them, they’re so slippery,” he said. “We’ve got to be sure and wrap up on defense.”

Gooden said he knows his team faces a challenge against Red Level.

“We’re hungry to get another win, but at the same time we know that Red Level is also hungry for a win,” he said. “They have played a lot of tough teams in their area and they’re a better team than their record says. Coach Grimes does a great job of preparing his kids and I know we’re going to have to play at our top level to win Friday.”

Kickoff in Florala is at 7 p.m.
