The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles claimed their second win of the season beating the Red Level Lady Tigers Tuesday night 24-26, 25-20, 16-25, 25-1, 15-10.

After the Lady Tigers won the first game, the Lady Eagles got ahead early in the second and never gave up the lead.

The Lady Tigers needed one more game to win the match, but the Lady Eagles were persistent and came back from behind to win the game.

In the fifth and final game, the Lady Eagles took the lead and gained the momentum needed to finish out on top.

“That’s two,” Lady Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said. “We bettered ourselves as a whole and we fought back in it and did what we had to do. That’s twice we played them and went to the fifth game and they won one and there’s not a lot of difference. That’s our second win, so we’re proud of anything can get.”

Davis said the focus during the fourth game was to make sure the serves stay inside the box.

“The main thing was to get our serves in,” he said. “We had a hard time, they had two or three that would serve the ball and we had a difficult time returning. We weren’t hitting our serves in. I’m sure they can say the same thing, but two or three of our better servers did not get the ball in. That’s a given in volleyball. If you’re going to win, you’ve got to serve.

“You’ve got to accept that’s a part of it,” he said. “Anybody that’s any good at it, they hit it in the square. We didn’t do it today and we got away with it.”

Lady Tigers head coach Heather Walden said the team could not come back and win the match.

“We are just not playing as a team,” Walden said. “We give up and give up, that’s all it is. It’s been like this for the past two or three games. Ever since the Andalusia game, they can’t come back.”

Walden said the team would be working on their serving during practice.

“We’re working on serving,” she said. “Serving’s killing us and we’re going to work on trying to spike the ball a little bit instead of volleying it back and forth.”

The Lady Eagles will host Laurel Hill next Tues., Sept. 30 at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Tigers will travel on Thurs., Sept. 25 to play New Brockton and play will start at 4 p.m.
