GREENVILLE — The Andalusia Bulldogs (1-4) got shut out by the Greenville Tigers (3-2) Friday night 29-0.

Head coach Brian Seymore said despite the loss there were some good signs on display Friday night.

“Greenville’s got a good football team, but I saw some good signs tonight,” Seymore said. “Early in the game, Ken (Chambers), our backup quarterback had his shoulder popped out. So we wanted to keep him in and let him throw the ball a little bit, but he just couldn’t throw the ball. I should have made a change with a guy with a fresher arm, but he wanted to gut it out and make some plays for his team.

“I saw some signs I’ve been waiting to see and I saw some guys playing to the end,” he said. “I’ll be honest with you, I made some bonehead calls that got us in bad situations.”

The Bulldogs’ defense held the Tigers to 7-0 at half time, but Greenville came back in the second half and scored three touchdowns plus a two-point conversion.

The first touchdown came for the Tigers came late in the first quarter when quarterback Ryan Smith rushed 2 yards for the score.

With 49.9 seconds left in the first, Andalusia’s O’Brien Curry intercepted the ball on a first-and-10 play.

In the second quarter with 4:57 left in the half, Smith threw another interception in the hands of Curry to make it two for the night.

The Tigers’ second touchdown came with 7:34 left in the third as an interception off of Bulldogs quarterback Ken Chambers landed in the hands of Tigers linebacker Issaac Melton, who ran it into the end zone to make it 14-0.

The fourth touchdown came in the same quarter when Smith passed to wide receiver Jeremy Robinson for a 30-yard run to make it 22-0 with the two-point conversion.

The last touchdown came with 9:47 left in the game as Cordez Peagler ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

Seymore said the team is not getting distracted and will remain focused for the rest of the season.

“We’re not getting discouraged we’re going to keep looking forward because our season lies ahead of us,” he said.
