Straughn falls to Zion Chapel

The Straughn Lady Tigers (10-7) lost to the Zion Chapel Lady Rebels (15-1) Monday night in four games 16-25, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25.

The Lady Tigers tied the match up after two games, but the Lady Rebels came back to take a one-game lead at the end of the third game.

Straughn was down eight points and the Lady Tigers rallied back to tie the fourth game up 23-23, but could not pull the tie out.

Head coach Lori Kinsaul said despite the loss, the team is still working hard on their game.

“We are continuing to work hard,” Kinsaul said. “Our serve receive is giving us some trouble. We have had some close matches and haven’t been able to pull them out. Our goal is to continue to correct our mistakes so that we can pull out wins at the regional tournament later this month.”

To finish out the regular season, the Lady Tigers will have to play Opp, Red Level and Flomaton.

Tiffany Taylor had five kills, four digs and three the blocks, Kaitlynn Wiggins had six kills and four digs and Stephanie Bracewell had nine assists and six digs for the night.

Earlier Monday night, the junior high team won 25-12 and 25-12 and the junior varsity won 25-15 and 25-11.

The Lady Tigers will hit the road today to face Opp. Play starts at 4 p.m.
