Fred Commander

Fred David Commander, 71, passed away Sat., Sept. 27, 2008, at his residence in Paxton, Fla. He was born in Darlington, Fla., and was the son of Wilmer Franklin and Irene Hudson Commander. He was employed with Louisiana Pacific for 25 years as maintenance supervisor. Later he was engaged in commercial and home electrical work.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Boyington and wife, Suzanne, and Randy Boyington; a daughter, Tracie Boyington Thomas, all of Andalusia; a brother, Ray Commander and wife Millie, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., a son-in-law, Wendell Thomas of Geneva, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Ashford and Aubrey Boyington, Amber and Brian Thomas, all of Andalusia; Sarah and Libby Boyington of Midland City, Ala.; Joshua Thomas, Alicia and Michelle Jackson of Geneva, Ala., and his beloved cat, Thunder, 15 years old; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charlie Commander; his daughters, Pennie Commander Jackson, and Judy Commander Thomas of Westville, Fla., who passed away the day before his death.
Visitation was held, Sunday, Sept. 28, at Evans Funeral Home in Florala. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Darlington Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank McIntosh and the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Interment was in the Darlington Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Buck Roberts, Tex Cassidy, Hank Davis, Milner Perry, T.C. Campbell, and Cecil Ammons. Honorary pallbearers were William Boyington, Herbert Haddock, Chester Norris, and Cleo Cook.
He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
