Charles McLemore

Charles Donald McLemore, 71, of Opp, died Tues., Oct. 7, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 11, at Sweetwater Baptist Church located on County Road 30 in Opp. Visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday at 500 West Covington Avenue in Opp.
Mr. McLemore was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Opp, where he grew up loving to hunt and fish in local rivers and streams as a young man with his best friend Donald Hall. He graduated from Opp High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force soon after where he served honorably in Spain during a post-World War II Europe. Soon after his military service he met and married his life long spouse, Dovie Marie Davidson.
They moved to Dade City, Fla., and raised five children there for 17 years. During this time Don worked as a truck driver and attended a local college where he graduated with a degree in Law Enforcement and Criminology. He served as a police officer in Dade City for several years and eventually retired there.
After the passing of his wife he found and happiness in a wonderful lady named Cora Pratt. She was his constant and loving companion whom his children will always love. His loving family and friends with fond memories will miss Don.
Don is the son of Robert Emmitt McLemore and Velma Catherine McLemore. He will be missed by his big brother, Eugene McLemore, and his little sister, Patricia (Patsy) Bowman of Montgomery.
He is survived by his children, David Allen Davidson, Karen Marie Patterson, Russell Emmitt McLemore, Laura Leigh Etheridge and Wade Quentin McLemore; his grandchildren, Rosa Lee Davidson, Kathryn Nicole Davidson, Guadalupe Salinas Jr., Kristina Amber Stafford, Danielle Lee Stafford, Heather Kathryn McLemore, Carol Louise McLemore, Amanda Rochelle McLemore, Ann Marie Williamson and Jamie Leigh Etheridge; and his great-grandchildren, Savannah Norton, Alexis Norton, Tristan Aiken, Shelley Aiken, Victoria Salinas, Amber Rodgers, Courtney Osborne and Holly Rodgers.
