Thomas Maddox

Thomas J. Maddox, 80, of Lockhart, passed away Fri., Oct. 17, 2008, in an Opp hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 20, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bryan officiating. Interment followed in the Florala Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Maddox was a native of Covington County and the son of the late James Edgar Maddox and Myrtis Fleming Maddox. He was a veteran of military service, serving in the Army Air Corps in 1945. He was an auto mechanic by trade, but he had been disabled for 21 years after being injured. He was a member of Lodge No. 685 F &AM of Florala and was a member of the Lockhart Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Gracie Murl Strickland Maddox of Lockhart; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce (Lori L.) Maddox of Lockhart; daughter, Sherril D. Geohagan of Lockhart; five grandchildren, Laura Leigh (James) Strickland, Erica Sheree Gantt, Jennifer Renee (John) Jordan, Justin Thomas (Nicole) Maddox and Caleb Dakota Maddox; three great-grandchildren, Mason Skyler Strickland, Emily Grace Jordan and Bredan Evan Gannt; and two sisters-in-law, Eloise Lundy of Crestview and Genell (Junior) Smith of Lockhart.
