Red Level takes loss against Southern Choctaw 29-12

Red Level prevented Southern Choctaw from scoring in the second half, but could not come back from an early deficit, losing 29-12 Friday. The Tigers fell to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in Class 2A, Region 1.

Choctaw scored on a 1-yard touchdown run at the 9:56 mark in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was good and the score was 8-0.

After two Red Level defensive stands, Choctaw scored three plays later after a fumble on a 23-yard pass at the 10:23 mark in the second quarter.

Two plays later, Red Level fumbled the ball and Choctaw took advantage and scored on a 9-yard pass at the 8:05 mark in the second to put them up 22-0.

Choctaw scored its last touchdown of the night on a 1-yard touchdown pass with 2:11 left in the first half to make it a 29-0 lead going into halftime.

The first touchdown for Red Level came as Torey Cobb ran the ball 9 yards for the score to make it 29-6.

The Tigers’ final touchdown came when quarterback Preston Ryce hit D.J. Sankey on a 38-yard pass with 49 seconds left in the game. The extra point was no good.

Red Level had 34 carries for 105 yards and completed four of 10 passes for 57 yards.

Red Level will host Straughn next Thursday night at 7 p.m.
