Andalusia to travel, play athletic Monroe County

Andalusia will travel to face off against Monroe County tonight and will try to keep its undefeated streak going.

The Bulldogs (3-0) hope to use their talent and speed to keep Monroe County from gaining the win.

Bulldogs head coach Richard Robertson said Monroe County has a good basketball program.

“They are very athletic,” Robertson said. “We’ve been practicing, but I kind of felt like in the last game we played we played all facets of the game better than we have.

“Now, I’m just worried about the layoff,” he said. “It’s always a tough place to play over there. They’ve got a good ball club, too. I saw them play for a half and they’ve got good athletes. They love basketball over there.”

Robertson added that he will stick to playing his players that need to be on the court.

“We’re just going to have to go over and play them by ear,” he said. “If we play a lot of players, it makes it hard to figure out what to do.”

Robertson also said the team’s philosophy going into the game will not change.

“Our philosophy will never change,” Robertson said. “Not many people that have won the number of ball games we’ve won over the years can say when things go bad, we’re going to keep going. We had the lead in the last game and went to an offense and defense to run out the clock. The main thing to do is to take what they give you.”

Action tonight will start at 5 p.m. at Monroe County.
