Dear Editor:

I’m sorry to say we lost a very dear friend last month. He was the captain of the Florala Rescue Squad here until his health got the worst of him. He and Larry Martin were the ones who made the Rescue Squad what it was and what it is today. They kept things going until both of their health failed on them. It is just not today what it was back then. I will miss them both.

Jimmy Don Pate was a very good friend of mine. We went to school together at Paxton. When I found out how sick he was becoming, I made him an 8-by-10 picture of him in his football jacket that I had and gave it to him by his wife. He fought his problem for a long time before it got the best of him. He will be missed very much by me and hopefully by the Rescue Squad members of the EMS.
