Lora Lord

Lora Jones Lord, 90, of Auburn, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 31, 2009, at East Alabama Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Willfred V. Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Tues., Feb. 3, at Fredericks Funeral Home with the Rev. James Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Lord was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Covington County, but she lived most of her life in Auburn. She was retired from the State of Alabama Veterans Affairs after 33 years of service assisting her husband, who was the Veterans Service Officer of Lee County before his retirement.
She earned an associate degree from Opelika Vocational Technical School in secretarial administration and was a charter member of the Opelika Business and Professional Women’s Organization. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sons, Michael W. Lord (Carolyn) and Keith J. Lord (Paula); grandsons, Clint Lord (Cherri) and Tyler J. Lord; granddaughters, Cheyenne Lord and Katie Hanna; great-granddaughter Isabella Lord; brother, Zelmer L. Jones; sisters-in-law, Catherine Lord, Annie Jones, Juanita Jones, and Marilyn Lord; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friend Margaret Thrower.
Fredericks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
