Douglas Eugene Powell, 72, died Thurs., March 12, 2009, at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Mon., March 16, from Wyatt Funeral Home with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m..
He is survived by his mother, Rosa Bell Powell of Andalusia; daughter, Stephanie Sue Powell (Lloyd) Smith of Andalusia; son, Norman Eugene (Loretta) Powell of Santa Rosa Beach; brother, Jimmy Ray (Jodie) Powell; sisters, Naomi Knox, Margie Nell (Robert Earl) Ward and Pauline Ray; grandchildren, Justin Bradley Powell, Douglas Mathew Smith and Katelyn Sue Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathrin Sue Bowden Powell.
Douglas spent 44-plus years driving a truck. He had been retired for two years.
Billy Boles will be officiating with Wyatt Funeral Home directing.
