Mrs. Alice May “Granny” Bronaugh, 75, of the Clearview community died Mon., March 16, 2009, at her residence. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. today at the Gantt American Legion Post with the Rev. Dennis Knowles officiating.
Mrs. Bronaugh was preceded in death by her husband, George Bronaugh III; son, Roger Raymond Ibbitson; grandson, Jonathan Ibbitson; sisters, Rhoda Silva, Roberta Berkey, Rita Swift, and Lita Mattatall; a brother, Frederick Nickerson; and her life long best friend, Beverly “Nana” Brandes.
Mrs. Bronaugh is survived by a son, Philip Alan Ibbitson of Newport, N.C.; daughters, Cheryl Beucher (Martin) of San Diego, Calif., Brenda Hamrick (Johnny) of Fairmont, W.Va., and Vicki Gaston (Richard) of Andalusia; 15 grandchildren, Chrystal Cason McCullough (Dustin), Susan Cox (Rodney), Gretchen Byrd (Clint), Raymond Cason (Kelly), Lisa Gaston (Hal), Brian Beucher (Shelia), Wendy Worley, Jesse Beucher, Danielle Albert (Mike), Shaye Mahoney (Billy), Roger Raymond Ibbitson II, Heidi Febus, Tabitha Beck (Billy), Shelby Ibbitson, and Philip Allan Ibbitson II; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her brothers, William Nickerson and John Benevides (Valerie), all of Sarasota, Fla.
