Family and friends united Sunday to celebrate Easter, the Christian holiday commemorating the day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Many churches in the county held special Easter sunrise services and experienced large congregations to celebrate the joyful occasion.

The First Presbyterian Church of Andalusia had a “flowering cross” outside its building as a symbol of the beauty of Christ’s resurrection. Children across the area also participated in a variety of fun activities at their churches and homes, including the traditional Easter egg hunt. Nicole Wacaster, 2, was out hunting eggs in Robinson Park Sunday afternoon.
